PopSockets has just introduced a new member of the PopMount 2 family: the PopMount 2 Photo.
Designed with creating Instagram and TikTok content in mind, the PopMount 2 Photo is a tripod compatible mount that uses your PopSocket to hold your phone up. According to the product page, it “screws onto any ¼ 20 tripod or tripod plate to allow you to easily mount your phone”. In addition, the PopMount 2 Photo can also stand on its own, allowing it to be used as a tabletop monopod.
As far as pricing and availability is concerned, the PopMount 2 Photo is currently an online exclusive, available for $15 in black. Considering the additional functionality this adds for any photographer or videographer who already uses a PopSocket and wants to capture content with just their phone, I’d say that’s a fair price.
Honestly though, I think this is product idea is genius and long overdue — I’ve been in the market for a tripod to film content for YouTube but I’ve never particularly liked the existing phone mount systems (though I’ve seen one or two really cool MagSafe compatible ones). I’ve long wished PopSockets would make a product like this, so I guess they read my mind.
I don’t know if or when I’ll be picking one up to try out, only because I haven’t purchased a tripod yet. That’s one purchase that I’m really trying to push myself on, not only for filming videos, but because I’d love to mess around with one for photography purposes as well. Finding new ways to up my iPhoneography game is something I’m always interested in doing.
