Why Now? Why This?

Hello everyone!

Thanks for coming to my second blog. Yes, you read that right: second blog. My primary blog can be found over at That Jersey Gamer. Primarily, I’m focused on gaming over there, though my content does tend to bleed over into other areas of geek culture, including technology, comics, and more.

But I’m so much more than gaming and a lot of the content that I want to write just doesn’t fit over there. It doesn’t mean that I don’t want to write about gaming — it just means that I want somewhere that I can talk about the latest Batman film, or write about a podcast that inspired me, or hell, even just throw some random thoughts out into the void with no expectation of a response back.

I don’t have a target audience for this blog and maybe that will be the death of it — or maybe that will be its biggest strength. Maybe I’ll say something that will make someone think, or laugh, or even crack the smallest of smiles.

The world is in a pretty dark place right now — let’s not kid ourselves. Sometimes, giving someone the smallest of smiles can be a rewarding thing in and of itself.

Maybe what I’ve said has given you a reason to want to stick around — to follow this blog and get updates on it. Maybe it hasn’t. The truth is it’s up to you, and you alone, to decide on if you want to go on this strange journey with me or not.

One more piece of information you may be interested in knowing: this blog is going to be primarily focused on text-based content. I may embed a tweet or a YouTube video, but don’t expect anything on this site to be visual heavy. This site is meant for reading — maybe in the morning with your coffee. Or maybe in the evening in those last moments before you decide to head to sleep (don’t do that, though, that’s really bad for you).

I guess I should probably throw in a quick secondary backstory on this page for those of you that have stuck around this far.

I was watching a video from Christopher Lawley where he mentioned using blot.im for his blog. I looked into the service and it intrigued me, as it’s a blogging service that’s based entirely around text files. At the same time, it costs $4 a month…and I’m, shall we say, frugal.

Ah screw it. I’m cheap. And since I have no idea if anyone actually wants to read the words I write that aren’t about gaming, I decided I could do the same thing with WordPress and (hopefully) a little discipline. Considering I’m going to drop a link to the video I was watching at the bottom of this post, I’d say I already failed in that regard.

Until next time, friends.
